The state of Missouri has created alternate pathways to certification due to a substitute shortage across the state. Please access the website below for information on how to become certified.
The following things must be done in order to become a substitute teacher:

2. Complete a background check. The background check paperwork can be picked up at the Administration/Ag Building or accessed and then printed at the site below,
There are several locations for background checks. The Macon location has consistent hours of operation.

3. Obtain a substitute teacher certificate. A substitute teacher certificate can be obtained through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education by submitting college transcripts documenting 60 college hours or completing an online training program.
